UIC Library Acquires Former County Commissioner

WHAT:
The University of Illinois at Chicago Library recently acquired the papers of Carl Hansen, who served as a Cook County commissioner from 1970 to 2006.

Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica and Dick Simpson, professor of political science, will announce the acquisition. Cook County State's Attorney Dick Devine and all Cook County commissioners have been invited to attend.

WHEN:
Oct. 29, 3 ‑ 5 p.m.

DETAILS:
The UIC Library Special Collections Department has received Hansen's donation of his papers, totaling about 200 file boxes. The collection is expected to be available to journalists and scholars in 2009, after all materials have been processed and catalogued.

The department holds the papers, photographs and digital images of hundreds of individuals and organizations important to the history of Chicago.
